Isle of Wight 2014 - Photo Call in Ryde

Worst ride ever ?

After an almost trouble free ride down to the I.O.W. and two good sunny days riding on the island, the journey back would become probably the worst our club has ridden .It was raining when we put the bags on the scooters at 6.30 am and it rained all the way to the boat and it rained without let up for the next 220 miles ! As we got further north the rain intensified and it got colder .Breakdowns started at the guest house when Roweys wouldnt start, even with a push .Bernies day got off to a bad start with a broken throttle cable coming off the boat, with that fixed it was only another forty miles before the water (we think) got to the electrics, after a couple of stoppages recovery was called.Tracey and Bernie and the Rally finally got home at 9pm ! While waiting for Bernie ,Steves throttle managed to make itself inoperable ,I had nuts missing on the tailpipe, and exhaust went noisey having shed some baffles,Brian didnt want to be left off the faults list as his scoot didnt want to idle .Even Graham on the GTS had a speedo failure ! As we thought nothing else could go Steves exhaust split in two ,sounding fatastic as long as you weren't following him ,Last problem was Brian with a broken rear exhaust bracket, sorted by Rowey and a fistful of cable ties! But where's Don ? Last seen passing the Dock gates at Southampton after depositing his bargain tyre purchase in Danish and Donna's van(yes,VAN,lucky people !) by Karl.He thought we were ahead of him whereas we were fixing Bernies throttle. He was determined to catch us ,but we were behind him ! Well done old buddy for the long solo ride, navigating in terrible weather. He rode further and was home first at 6.15 .! Star prize must be shared by Becs and Rhianon,Becs as she wasnt feeling too good to start and could have had a seat in Danishes van (thanks Paul )but was determined to "ride" the IOW rally, and Rhianon who despite being frozen and soaked, kept up the pace hanging on to the GP like a good 'un. Many thanks to all who went with us,I think it's the best I.O.W I've done and made by the company who was there. p.s anyone know where I can get a van for next year?!!!
