Eugene circa 1979

Eugene wanted someone to post an old picture of him with his GP 150 in 1979, so just for you here is a trip down memory lane.
Nice range of accessories.
Actually that's just given me an idea of a separate tag on the sidebar for nostalgia pics!!
The Link is now done on the right hand side, if anyone else want to send me some old scooter pics, I'll try to load them up.

"Tap" rideout

12 noon was the appointed hour to be at Clubbies .When I arrived fifteen minutes later there were already eight scooters ready to go .The weather was superb,no wind and bright sun ,but Freezing cold !!Luckily the Tap is only about ten miles from Clubbies ,but it was far enough with the temp not rising above zero all day . I counted 50 scooters outside the pub,a very good turnout .Liverpool s.c., Cloud 9, N.Aces, were amongst the clubs . Liverpool s.c. have made this an annual ride for at least the last three years,a great idea on a day with reasonable weather . Thanks to Simo for phoning us and to Dean for putting a message on the guest book .Darren and Pete(supertune),Paul(Elvis),Tomo,Gary,Perry,George and son,Flynny all braved the cold to do the run ,good on yer lads !

Countess Christmas Present Run 2008

Just loading up the photos from today's run, nice to see a few faces that I haven't seen for a while, including Adam released from baby duties for the day, Darren with a fresh saudi suntan and Karl Ceplis riding a scooter instead of showing one. Well done to all who turned out and I'm sure The Countess Children's ward were very grateful for all the presents donated by the scooterists.

Sorry some of the images seem a little out of focus, it's those darn scooters they just move so fast !!

Hi,

If anyone was having trouble posting comments it was probably because you needed a google account. This was not something we wanted and originally we allowed anonymous comments to be made, however after a few unpleasant comments we made the change to requiring registration.

As we want maximum participation in the site and having to register just to comment is a pain, unregistered comments are once again allowed.  We will see how it goes.

Supertune phone out of action.

Hello,

Just to let locals know that our phone line has not been working at the shop since Monday evening. It still rings as normal to people who are calling so it just sounds like i cannot be arsed to answer it!

BT are pretending to try and sort it but it now seams a major line was cut and up to 1400 people are affected ( but they will not admit this). It may not be up and running again until the end of the week, calls should now be automatically diverted to my mobile.

Ho hum, modern technology.

Pete.

p.s. We have paid the phone bill ;)

"BEST STANDARD VESPA"

Eugene at Southport after winning the prize for the best standard Vespa ,considering the huge turnout of scooters at this event this was a big achievement,Chester S.C. are on a winning streak with Gary,Wilf,Bernie and now Eugene all picking up prizes in the last year .Well done all ! Update on the Prize Winners at Southport . Gary Clarke won the prize for the "Best Cutdown ".We only learned of this through Barry Turner,as the Lancashire Alliance put a photo on their site asking if anyone knew the owner, and Barry recognised it .Well done Barry and congratulations to Gary

Southport Ride-Out 2008

Well a fantastic day was had by all who went on this one, as the weather gods really shone down on everyone, it was more like July than October. After meeting Barry Turner and a few of the Nomads at the Little Chef in Eastham, 15 scooters rode on through the tunnel to Liverpool. After myself and some others got split up and lost around Kirby,we eventually found the Beaufort Arms pub at Burscough and soon realised that this was one hell of a turnout of scooters.

We left just after 12-30 and arrived in Southport sometime after 1pm, taking the scenic route with splendid views across the marshes where we could see Blackpool tower clearly in the distance. We rode down the whole length of Lord Street in Southport and eventually parked up outside Funland. There was free hotpot available at Leo's Bar, fish and chips, ice creams and even funfair rides for those that fancied them !!! Also well done to Eugene for winning Best Vespa in the custom show.

We left about 3pm and headed off down the lovely route through the sand dunes of Ainsdale and Formby and then into Liverpool through Bootle and down to the tunnel. A little detour was suggested to the White Lion pub in Childer Thornton and we did not have to be asked twice, as it was a Thwaites real ale pub the beer went down very easily.

All in all a great ride-out to finish the season before winter sets in.

Southport Rideout this Sunday ,12th October

The Southport Sandgrounders are celebrating their 50th anniversary on Sunday, all North West clubs are invited .Details of meeting up on the Liverpool side are on our Events page . I would suggest meet at Clubbies before ten ,to leave at 10am,via a41, meeting Barry Turner at 10.30 at Little Chef at Eastham (by the m53 roundabout) at 10.30,giving us plenty of time to reach the mass meeting point, the Beaufort Hotel on the a59,by12 noon .If anyone has a problem with the times of meeting up,ring me ,or I will see you at Tuesdays meeting ,all the best ,Dave .

Warrington ride out Sunday 28th September

Brian has asked me to mention the rideout next Sunday . Lowton civic hall near Warrington is the meeting point for the start of the mass ride into Warrington .Start time at Lowton is 11.30 . Anyone wanting to ride on this needs to be at Clubbies for a 10 .am departure as it always takes us longer than anticipated to get to Lowton (Gingers Egg Run starting point ).
Cracking good weather saw a lot of happy scooterists on their way to Rhyl on Saturday morning . Graeme,Mike,Eugene and Will, Steve and Jan,and others set off from Chester after10am and met the rest of Chester club at Deeside leisure center .We left 10.45 with about 15 scooters and managed to stay together as far as the lights at Flint, but as usual the group fragmented ,so we arrived at our usual stop pub "The Bells of St Marys " just before Prestatyn to refresh and regroup . We arrived at Rhyl around noon with about 15 scooters ,needless to say not exactly the same ones that started out ,in some cases ! Usual rally stuff ,talking ,rideout ,chips ,parts vans etc ,time for a pint, back home for food . Bernie had the only breakdown amongst our mob with a worn plug cap jumping off whilst overtaking a car ! Hairy moments ! Serves him right for coming on a vespa when he has a shed full of reliable lammies ! See you all soon ! Dave . P.S. Bernie and Tracey won "Best Vespa " at the Rhyl Rally ! Well done both . Dave .

Rhyl Rideout Saturday 20th Sept

I have had it confirmed from two different sources that the Rhyl weekend is definitely on between the 19th to 21st Sept, however I can't see much reference to it on other websites?

So looking at what we did last year I suggest that we leave Clubbies in Chester at 10am on Saturday morning (20th Sep) and then stop opposite the Ice Rink at Queensferry at 10.20am for any of the Deeside lads that want to ride with us. We can stop again further up the coast road to meet others (somewhere around Greenfield for Dave and any others). Maybe we can have a stop at the same pub as last year on the way, but we should aim to get to The Robin Hood holiday camp at Rhyl for around 12 noon as this will give us time to have a look round at the trade stalls before the rideout, which is usually 1pm up to Abergele.

Keep watching this website as I will update this post next week when I am clearer about the arrangements (and the weather !!!)

News of the Durham Heiffer

Good news from Ade and Lisa at the Durham Heiffer, all is well at the pub and they are busy and its business as usual .This follows two conversations I had today with members who told me they had read in the Chronicle that the Durham Heiffer was in the hands of the official receiver. This is Durham Heiffer Ltd ,a limited company set up by the two ladies who had run the pub prior to Ade and Lisa taking over and in no way connected to to them or their pub . So lets keep up our support,as Ade will be more than pleased to see any of the scooter clubs that regularly visit . Best regards, Dave .

Bangor on Dee Rideout Pics

An excellent turnout of nearly 50 scooters for a local Sunday rideout was a fantastic achievement. Well done to The Dabbers for arranging it and to all the clubs who turned out on what was a pretty miserable rainy morning, which thankfully cleared up later. Also thanks to the landlord and staff at The Royal Oak pub in Bangor who were very welcoming and happily received the large crowd of popping two stroke scooterists.

Pictured above is Eugene's new PX 200 (edit -oops sorry Eugene Dave tells me it's a Rally not a PX)in a rather nice burnt orange colour, which made it's debut on the rideout. For more pics from the day click on the link below and select slideshow.

Ride-Out Sunday 31st August

Thanks to all the Nantwich, Crewe and Winsford lads who turned out at The Shady Oak pub on Tuesday night, an excellent turnout of 10 scooters were there already when the 3 of us arrived from Chester, however a very pleasant evening was had at this peaceful location.

The Dabbers lads asked me to advertise the fact that they are planning a ride-out on Sunday to Bangor on Dee. They are meeting at the picnic area behind the pub at Broxton roundabout to leave at 11-30, so Wilf suggests that the Chester lads meet up at the Trooper Inn carpark (opposite Dickens garage on the A41) at 11am. Wilf's mobile number is 07769580151.

Monday Bank Holiday Afternoon Ride-Out

Wilf has let me know that some of the Liverpool lads are having a ride-out up to the horseshoe pass and Llangollen on Monday afternoon and are willing to drop in to Clubbies on the way, so he has suggested that if any of the Chester lads fancies it, to meet at Clubbies in Handbridge at 11-15 noon for leaving at 11-30. Wilf's Mobile No. is 07769580151.

Also Tuesday night local ride-out to The Shady Oak pub is definitely on barring thunderstorms, so far Graham, Eugene and Wilf are up for it, 7-30pm leaving Clubbies.

Tuesday Night Ride-Out Anyone ???

I have looked at the weather forecast for next week and it looks to be fairly dry, so does anyone fancy resurrecting Pete's idea of a ride-out to The Shady Oak pub. I know a lot of people are away at The IOW Rally (or coming back from), but if anyone fancies a run out Tuesday night, 7-30pm leaving Clubbies in Handbridge, either send me an e-mail on gfox@freeuk.com or give me a bell on 07799002680.

P.S. The road between Tarvin and Tarporley is closed at the moment, so we will have to go the back way through the Waverton lanes. I will post again on here before Tuesday to confirm if it is to go ahead.

Graham.

Durham Heiffer do Sunday 13th July

Chester Scooter Club members ,if you dont go to anything else in the whole year, you have to support this ! This is the nearest we come to a rally of our own and Ade and Lisa and family do all the hard work for us,including this year providing some trophies to give out .
We will meet at the Grosvenor Arms (clubbies )at 11am to leave with amass ride at 11.30 to get to the Durham Heiffer at 12noon . The band Moses is booked (at considerable expense!)and anyone who has seen them previously knows how good they are ! Ades special burgers and good real ale will be on sale as last year and anyone who wants to spend Saturday night there and camp is welcome . Ades telephone no.is 01829 782253 for more info .If you have a high viz vest bring it along as we will need marshalls for the rideout .

Isle of Man Scooter Rally .July 4th ,5th, 6th

Just a brief word on this one for anyone going on this .We will meet at the Grosvenor Arms ,Handbridge ,(clubbies)at 8.45 am Friday to leave at 9am for Liverpool .Boat goes 11.15 and we must check in by 10.30 ,latest . See you all at Clubbies, dont forget your boat tickets ,or your scooter!

Fort Invasion ,Cl;oud 9 ,29/06/2008

We had a really good turnout for this one .Twenty eight scooters left Clubbies bound for New Brighton .Our club numbers were boosted by the arrival of The Dabbers s.c. along with lads from Crewe and Winsford and even a guy from The Mysterons s.c. London (was this a navigation error on the M25 ? ! ! ).It was great to have such a good turnout .The route followed the usual shambles of losing a few at every set of lights and roundabout before leaving chester on the Parkgate rd.Things improved as we got out to Mollington, but not for long ,as it started to rain ,by Heswall it was pissing down and I finally stopped at Thustaston when I realised we only had four scooters ! Everyone had stopped on route to don wet weather gear .Bernie turned up in some high viz, dayglo pants that would give you a headache,if you wernt wearing sun glasses !wow !
Despite the discomfort everyone seemed in good spirits and we all arrived in New Brighton en masse. Lots of scooters were already there and Pete and Darren from Supertune arrived soon after us ,having nipped back to base to fit a replacement carb to Petes Lammy,so he could do the ride.Well done lads !
We all did our own thing from there on,the punk band Instant Agony were relentless in their set ,which was entertaining ,but didnt suit everyone ! Instant Agony fans and off spring provided alot of good people watching for the hour that we listened to the band .Everyone made their own way home in what turned out to be a sunny and windy afternoon . Thanks to Cloud 9 for the organisation and to Instant Agony for the visual experience ,oh ,and the music !!

Evening Rideout ,Tuesday ,June 10th

Ade Jones tells me The DABBERS s.c.(Nantwich) are keen to ride to the Durham Heiffer on Tueday evening 10th of June .As this coincides with our normal club night we could take advantage of the light nights and join up with them .for a pint .Its weather dependent ,of course, but its a long time since the club rode at together midweek .I will do it and anyone is welcome to join me who wants to .Post comments if you think this could be a regular activity during the summer

Southport Weekender ,June 6/7/8th

Anyone who wants to ride up to the Southport do next weekend with Chester scooter club members should meet at the EIGHT RIGHTS pub (just off the Parkgate Rd.at the Blacon roundabout) at 1.30pm on Friday,6th june .Dave Buckley and Gavin ,Ade Jones and Dave Sheehan are planning to start off together ,so contact any of them for more info . Note the pub is not our usual one !

Wrexham s.c. rideout

The day started off dull and cool for our ride over to Wrexham s.c. base for the start of the 7th rideout to the Horseshoe Pass. I arrived at Clubbies a couple of minutes ahead of 13 scooters from Ellesmere Port s.c.,Chesters finest drifted in before the appointed departure time of 12.15. A further group of more than 10 from cloud 9 and Liverpool s.c. arrived as we departed ,at a guess about 35 in all. On arrival at the Walnut tree pub some of the Chester members were already there .Kick off for the rideout was set for 1.15 and as usual this worked very smoothly with lots of marshals on the busy junctions blocking the traffic . I noticed several had parked the scooters up and helmets were off ,and standing across the junction ,perhaps a less agressive tactic than jamming your scooter across the cars bonnet ? They could just mow you down anyway ,but look on the bright side,no damage to your scooter ! The pace of the rideout really picked up after we turned left at Four Crosses and hit the open road everyone going for it to get to the Ponderosa at the front !no point ! there is always a massive que no matter when you get there! The mass ride always finishes at the Ponderosa as the big bunch of scooters fragments into smaller groups and clubs for the ride back to Wrexham .Several lots even turned around to retrace the route rather than going on down the Pass.As this is the most spectacular part of the whole run ,with a wide choice of pubs in Llangollen,I didnt see the point of coming so far and turning back!An uneventfull run back to Wrexham to the Walnut Tree for the usual burgers ,stalls ,raffles and chat rounded off a pleasant days scootering .Big thank you to all at Wrexham s.c. for making the effort for us all to enjoy ourselves scootering in Wales again .Looking forward to next year .

Oulton Park Review

Well what a fantastic day out out was had by all who attended, the sun shone all day and just got hotter and hotter. Seven scooters and one Yamaha DX (ridden by Darrens's father in law) left the Supertune shop at about 10-15, myself and Darren from the Chester club and Dean and the others were from the Northern Aces. We arrived just in time to see the end of the first scooter practice round and boy were they flying round, they were using the full circuit all the way round Esso bend which proved a long track for the scooters really, taking them around 2 and a half minutes to get round, compared to 1 minute 15 seconds for the top bikes.
After chatting to some of the racers in the paddock we tried viewing from different corners on the track and bumped into Thommo and Garry at Lodge corner, Garry was on his SX, but Thommo had come in his van (with daughter + friend + dog). We later met up with John from Supertune, who had arrived late and his mate Andy who kindly let us use the boot of his car for our helmets and coats.
Both scooter races turned out to be interesting affairs and subject to very close tussles between Charlie Edmonds and Stuart Day on the Lambrettas, both very experienced racers and past champions. We hung on for the last scooter race at 5-15pm and then made tracks back to Chester arriving back around 6 pm.

This Weekend's Scooter Events 31st May+1st June

This weekend there is an event on each day Saturday and Sunday.

Saturday 31st May - Scooter Racing at Oulton Park. The race meeting is one of the rounds of the BSSO (British Scooter Sport Organisiation), which are held around the country at different race tracks and are part of a motorcycle racing day as there are not enough scooters racing to hold a dedicated meeting just for them. There will be around 30 different scooter racers on the day in different classes, some Lammies, some Vespas and some auto's. The racing agenda for the scooters consists of 2 practices and 2 full races, with the first practice starting at 11am. Iknow that John (Darren's mate from Supertune) is going and I think Peter from the shop and various other local scooterists have also shown interest and a loose arrangement has been made to meet at the Supertune shop for 10am, to get up to Oulton in time for the first practice session, it's £12.00 pay on the gate. I intend to go to this one so if anyone wants to contact me to meet up on Saturday, feel free.

Sunday 1st June - Wrexham S.C. Annual Ride-Out. This is the annual ride-out to the Ponderosa Cafe at the top of the Horshoe Pass, down into Llangollen and back to Wrexham for a pint at Walnut Tree pub. They usually have a custom show and trade stands and it's very well organised and attended with over 300 scooters last year. The ride-out leaves Asda carpark opposite the pub at 1-30pm, so I suggest meeting at Clubbies at 12noon and leaving by 12-15 to get down to Wrexham in time to have a quick look around at the scoots before the off.

Jesters s.c. @ Leek ,Staffs

Six scooters left Clubbies at 10.30 for the fifty mile ride to Leek .Gary Clarke(sx200)Bernie and Tracey(sx200),Eugeneand Will (jet 200)Mike Wilford (li 150)Mark(px125) and me (tv200). We picked up Gavin at the rugby club on his t5 on the route out of Chester . The air temp was cold despite the sunshine but as we have said before the scooter engines really sing along on cold ,damp air. We met up with four lads from wrexham on the approach to Nantwich ,one of whom managed to hit an orange lane marker, bounce off the kerb and end up in the middle of the road .He was a bit scraped, but unhurt .His t5 had scratched panels and the front brake leverwas broken off. We were told the panels on both sides were scratched because he fell off yesterday as well !!
We arrived in Leek about 12.30 and just managed to squeeze into the Square behind the red lion pub ,the focal point of the do . Iwould guess a couple of hudred scooters ,with a lot of "fully moded". The band was " Debonair "and started up ten minutes after we arrived, with alot of good "sooter" tunes . The Hog Roast was a bargain at £2 and really delicious, all in all an excellent venue ,with more than the normal number of dealers stalls for a one day show . We left at three and some of us called in the Durham Heiffer onthe way back to have a drink and a bite with Ade and Lisa and family . A good scootering day ,no rain ,mostly sunshine .I clocked 140 miles ,so the Chester ones did 100 roundtrip.

Leek Jesters Scooterfest 4 Sunday 18th May

This coming Sunday 18th May is the annual Leek Jesters Scooterfest which is held in a really good location, in a car park in the centre of the town which is surrounded by pubs, how good is that !! There are usually plenty of trade stalls and a good custom show, also maybe a hog roast and live music. It's a good ride about 45 miles from Clubbies, but an easy route through Nantwich and Stoke on good roads.

For those who fancy this one I suggest meeting at 10am at Clubbies and setting off by 10-15am, this should get us there for 12 to 12-30, perfect for the start of the custom show.

Route is A51 to Nantwich, follow M6 motorway signs to junction 16 M6, straight across onto the A500 to Stoke, then take the A53 to Leek.

Northwich Thundersprint

Five scooters left Clubbies for this one, picking up Gavin en route. When we eventually found the meeting place at Stretton, none of us could believe our eyes at the turnout of scooters, there must have been over 200 scooters parked up in a super little private road just off J10 M56, loads of lads from all over Lancashire, with Liverpool and Manchester clubs having quite a number in attendance.

The ride-out into Northwich was very well organised by the local club, (Omega SC) with good marshalling holding back the cars so we could get into the town. We parked up at Northwich Glass and filled their carpark, this was in a very good spot as it was only 10 mins walk down to the Thundersprint venue and the weather for this one was excellent, with the sun really beating down all afternoon.

Once we had managed to find a viewing point the cheerleader girls kicked the show off then there was a circuit by an open backed truck with ex-bike champions waving to the crowd including Giacomo Agostini, for those that don't know he was motorbike GP champion on the MV Agusta 15 times through the 60's + 70's and still a good looking bloke even at 65 years of age. There was even a display by one of the last remaining flying Spitfires and very good the pilot was too.

The Thundersprint itself was perhaps a little disappointing with the vintage bikes all doing a timed lap around the main shopping car park, most times averaging around 27 seconds, with the fastest one I saw 24.9 secs. However the grand stands were all full and there must have been thousands of people there for the day out and what's amazing is that it was all totally FREE.

We had a good ride back along the A51 through Kelsall and Tarvin, dodging the speeding bikers all the way back. All in all an excellent and different day out.

Northwich Thundersprint Run - Sunday 11th May

This Sunday the 11th May is the Northwich Thundersprint annual festival and although predominantly a bikers event for vintage and modern bikes, it is a fun day out for everyone.

The ride-out (for the scooters) is being organised by Omega S.C. from Northwich and is being supported by the Lancashire Alliance. There is a meeting point for the scooters near Warrrington, with a mass ride into Northwich, departing at 12 Noon, the details taken off the Lancashire Alliance website is as follows -

Meet at the entrance to the Shire Hospital, Stretton, Nr. Warrington on the A49 / M56 junction 10 at 11:30am. Depart at 12:00pm for mass ride into Northwich town centre parking at the Matalan carpark to watch the annual Thundersprint. (Classic Motorbike Racing around the town centre). Details on http://www.thundersprint.com/
Contacts Trevor - 07761625075 or Nigel - 07989953561

I suggest that for those who are interested we meet up at Clubbies at 10-15 to leave at 10-30, this should give us plenty of time to get over to Warrington to meet up with the other scooterists. I hope to go on this one, so I will work out a suitable route to get to the Stretton meeting point.

Llandudno Scooter Rally 2008

Picture link at the bottom of post.

Graham and Bernie left Chester for the Saturday run out to Llandudno, meeting up with Dave at Holywell. Dave then lead us on an interesting route through Dyserth, Rhuddlan, Abergele, Colwyn Bay, Rhos on Sea and finally into Llandudno, which was jammed packed with cars and people due to at least two other big events going on over the week-end as well as the scooter rally.

We finally parked up outside the View cafe and took a well earned coffee break before having a look around the Custom Show which was outside the main Venue Cymru building, with the trade stalls inside. There was a fair turn out of scooterists from all over the North West and Midlands, but not as many as I was expecting. The weather stayed dry and as the day wore on it got warmer and brighter until the sun eventually broke through from the middle of the afternoon.

We took a detour to Pete and Tina's campsite for a cup of tea before heading home in the reverse route, all in all an excellent day's riding.

Well done the lads for braving the rain on Sunday, it looks like it kept mostly dry for you anyway. I have now added Daves pictures to the link above.

Polo Shirts with club logo

I have got my act together ,at last ,to organise a polo shirt with the club badge on .Uniformity clothing next door to Clubbies can do the whole job for us for £15 per shirt. We have gone for Fruit of the Loom make as these were our old Centurions shirts and have worn well . Colour is white and there are male and female versions .This is a heavy duty polo with the red white and blue wolfs head emblem embroidered int the shirt ,65mm diameter badge . the next step is to get the names and sizes of everyone who wants one ,we need at least 20 to start this off.
Have a look at the sizes below and let me know your size and how many you want by posting in the comments box at the bottom of this box
MENS S=36"-38" , M=38"-40" ,L=42"-44", XL=46",XXL=48",3XL=50"-52"

LADIES , XS=8, S=10, M=12 ,L=14, XL=16 . Ialready have orders for about ten ,so the sooner the list fills up ,the sooner we get the shirts . Dave .

Llandudno Rally ,this weekend

Sorry to be so late posting about this do ,but I was hoping to get some opinion from the members at the club meeting last night.Unfortunately I was the only member at Clubbies last night,so we are no further forward ! Some are going down Friday and staying till Monday .Some are going Sat or Sunday and not staying .
I would suggest meet at Clubbies 10.30 am on Sat. and again on Sunday for anyone in the chester area wanting to ride down on either day . I will probably go both days but will not come into Chester but am happy to meet up on route . If anyone wants to do this ring or text me .If you've got a legshield banner put it on if you can ,it always looks good when there's scooters from all over the country,we are very lucky to have a national scooter rally so near to home,so support it if you can ,cheers to all for now ,see you at the weekend, Dave.
P.S. LIVE BANDS on Friday "JAM'D " and Sat. "BASKETCASE",so I will be going back down again Sat .night ,but by car !

North Wales Nomads "Into the Valley " 20th april 2008

For more picture click HERE and select slideshow at the top of the page.

Well done to Steve for making this his first long ride with the club after buying a new PX125 ! Exactly the same as last year ,the weather forecast was all doom and gloom ,but just the same it was an over the top forecast and apart from a few early spits and spots it remained dry and cold for the whole trip . Six "chester "scooters left macdonalds ,Mold ,with eight club members ,for the run via St Asaph to Abergele where over seventy scoots came together for the event .This years route went inland from Abergele through the hills to Llanfair T.H. and on down into the valley of the Conway via Llanwrst ,up to Betwys-y-Coed for the lunch break .The return route back to Conwaywas supposed to cross to the far bank andreturn via Trefriw.Due to confusion when Chester scoots left to refuel the other sixty odd scoots followed (nobody likes to be left behind !!)and the wrong road was taken by the rideout! Chester s.c. followed the planned route ,now alone, back via Conway ,Llandudno prom ,Colwyn Bay ,back to the finish in Abergele! It all made for a good laugh when we walked into the Nomads pub they were trying to sort out who in their club had messed it up ! Sorry lads ! An uneventfull ride back from Abergele via Rhuddlan ,Dyserth ,Lloc ,Holywell ,with acold wind in our faces (Steves bringing more clothes next time !)ended a ride of close on 135miles for those from Chester, well done all .Theres afew more photos I will pass to Graham to post for us and Ithink steve took some to. Dave.

New Quay Rally 4/5/6th April

More pictures at the bottom of the page

Pete and Tina ,Judy and I decided to have a go at this rally this year as we missed it last year. It was advertised on the Welsh Scooter Forum website as a tickets only do so we sent for them and booked a B+B in nearby New Quay. With a bad weather forecast and Tina struggling with a throat infection Pete made the decision to get Tina to follow us down with the car and trailer, just in case ! We left Holywell 11.30 Friday and planned to stop for coffee at Rhugg on the A5 . We accidently met up with six scooters from Wrexham s.c. and all decided to carry on down together via Bala, Dolgellau,Aberystwyth to New Quay . Weather was dry with low cloud nearly on the roads through the mountain passes but it was very cold . Ferret and Dave from Wrexham set a fast pace and I was glad of a refuel stop at Dolgellau ,as Judy and I were the only "two up" scooter, but as a 44year old 200 Lammy will always hold its own against a 4 year old 200 vespa we didnt have any great problem !!
The "do" was based at the Llanina Hotel at Llanarth ,just outside New Quay .A good venue, for camping and the pub with the night do on Friday and Saturday nights but a three mile journey to New Quay town ,a great little harbour town with an excellent choice of pubs and eating places .Friday night music and party got into full swing by 11,Saturday night was the same thing again ,a live band would have given it a bit of variety .Steve Flynn and his wife turned up on Saturday morning ,as a couple of dealers set up there stalls for a parts fair. The "rideout ",planned for 1pm ,never materialised so we had our own ride to Aberaeron up the coast in bright sunshine, but an ever stronger freezing cold wind . We came out the B+B on Sunday morning to falling snow accompanied by a freezing cold wind.Boy, was I glad that Pete had brought the car and trailer, with enough room for two scooters !!
Would I go again ? Yes! The roads are some of the best for an interesting ride, scooter parking was safe and easy in a little town were parking a car would be a nightmare.Only criticism would be a bit more laid on during the Saturdayand a live band on Saturday night .Apart from Wrexham s.c ,Telford Tigers,Salford Knights and Cloud 9 the rest were from south Wales and Istill havent a clue the name of the organising club, but whoever they were thanks lads ,it was a good effort!!Will send Graham the rest of the pictures to put on later .Dave.

Easter Egg Run 2008

The rain thankfully kept off for our annual Easter Egg Run to The Children's Ward of The Countess of Chester Hospital and this year broke all previous records with a total of 54 scooters parked up at The Grosvenor Arms before we set off.
It was also a record for the number of eggs delivered this year as can be seen from the photos and grateful thanks are given to Pat and all of the regulars from The Grosvenor pub and the other businesses who genorously donated to our charitable scooter run. In particular, thanks go to the staff of the following companies and businesses - Browns of Chester, Alans Skip Hire, Royal House Pharmacy, Airbus Hanger 92 lads, Chester Against Business Crime and all The Security Staff and of course thanks to all of the individual scooterists who brought easter eggs along.
Chester Scooter Club would like to thank all of the scooterists who made the effort to come along and support this event, including Dabbers Scooter Club from Crewe + Nantwich, The Atherton Scooter Boys + Girls who made the longish trip over from Lancashire, The Northern Aces, The Chosen Few, Ellesmere Port Scooter Club and all the individual scooterists from around the local area, what a fantastic way to start off 2008.

Get Well Soon 'Wilf'

Just to let you all know that Wilf, (Mike Wilford) suffered a Heart Attack last week, he went into The Countess and later to Broad Green Hospital and had some 'Stents' fitted to open up the arteries. He's OK and resting at home at the moment, but has been put on R+R for 6 weeks by his doctor, so I'm sure you would all like to join me in wishing him a speedy recovery and hopefully we'll soon see the 'glint of his mirrors' when he's back riding around Chester later on in the year.

Get well soon Mike from all The Chester Scooter Club members.

A few of us are thinking of going along to The Northern Aces do at the end of Feb, If anyone fancies it here are the details.
