This scooter rally is on the same weekend as the Irish Euro Lambretta,so for anyone looking for a much cheaper alternative, within the distance from Chester of a good rideout ,here it is ! Star of the show is Mr Dean Parish coming over from the U.S .specially to do this gig . Entry is by ticket only with a maximum number of 500,200 sold already .tickets are £15 and gives entry to the do on Friday and Saturday nights .Campsite is near by (at extra cost) and there are B+B'S in the town .A rideout is planned for Saturday and there are lots of good pubs on the island .more details on www.northwalesscooterrally.com.You can buy tickets online or from Alan by giving him a call on 07917770643.
This new venue for this (4th)Anglesey Rally should be a big improvement on the previous site at the agricultural show ground as Beaumaris is well set up with pubs, the castle ,good area for rideout etc .Its only about 6o miles to ride each way from Chester and should be an interesting weekend .Anyone from the club who is interested in going just put a your name in the comments box at the bottom of this post .Let me know if you are interested in B+B or camping .

The Tap Run Jan 2011 - Write up + Pictures
A nice turn out of 9 scooters at clubbies on a cold but dry day for a little run up to The Tap pub at Eastham Ferry. For once we were early leaving and arrived at 12-45 at the Tap, just before the liverpool lads so we got served with the drinks and toasties just in time. When everyone had arrived there was an excellent total turnout of at least 50 scooters, which on a cold winters day was pretty good going.
Andy Nico had mechanical problems on the way back, but with Vespa Rally super mechanic Bernie Griffiths on hand, who was assisted by his two apprentices Graham and Andy Swarb, we managed to get a new clutch cable fitted and working in no time, good job you were carrying a spare one Andy !!! All in all it was a very nice new year run to knock off the cobwebs and get back into the saddle.

Ride Safe - Back Safe Campaign

Found this road safety campaign aimed at bikers + scooterists in the North West, probably because the roads and potholes are so bad now with no repairs getting done for a number of years.
Dozens of hazards and just two tyres…
RideSafe BackSafe has just issued the first in a short series of winter advice campaigns for bikers in the North West. Posters are being distributed to nearly 100 motorcycle dealerships, as well as some larger employers, local authorities and the police.
The campaign aims to highlight the need for bikers to prepare properly for every journey and adopt a much more cautious riding mind-set on winter roads. As RideSafe BackSafe spokesperson, Karen Delaney explains:
“Other road users can often just de-mist or de-ice the windscreen, get in and go; but there is a lot more to it for year-round riders. The routine you might follow in pleasant weather is not good enough for winter. We are urging bikers to allow more time to dress properly for the conditions – stay warm and dry and be highly visible – regularly check that your bike or scooter is road worthy and ride cautiously. In all but the very worst conditions, it is still possible to get out there on two wheels; but don’t think that Mother Nature owes you a safe ride”.
RideSafe BackSafe will be issuing further poster campaigns over the coming months and focusing on the need for other road users to show respect and leave room for motorcyclists.

Christmas Toy Run 2010 Pictures and Write Up
This year's turnout was little low due to the freezing weather conditions, the temperature was minus 8C at 9am and it didn't get above freezing all day, however the sun was shining which was a bonus. So this year there were plenty of wimps who came in the car (including me) and 14 brave scooterists who flew the flag to keep the scooter run going to The Countess Hospital, so respect and well done to all of you for turning up and donating presents for the kids in hospital.
Big thanks must go out to Pat and Andy of The Grosvenor for hosting the event and providing the bacon butties and sarnies, all well received as usual. Also a big thankyou to Tracey for organising the event and collecting the Chrissie presents and a big thankyou to Helen for selling the raffle tickets.
By the way if anyone was wondering if Billy was on fire, he wasn't, it was his fag smoke as he bent down to pump his tyre up.

Southport Ride Out - Sunday 10th October
As Gary had put up a new post, I thought it would be easier to re-use the original Southport post.
Great rideout today with 18 scooters leaving Clubbies, picking up Wilf on route, had a trouble free run through the tunnel and up through Liverpool to meet up at The Bull and Dog pub in Burscough just as the mass rideout was about to start. Lovely ride into Southport across the marshes and round into Lord Street and finishing up outside Leo's Bar. There must have been 300 scooters at least parked up outside Leo's, with some lovely bikes on show. Big thanks to Soutport Scooter clubs for organising the ride which was very well marshalled and a big thankyou for the free hotpot for all the scooterists. Some left before us, but we left at about 3-45 riding back along the coast through Formby and coming down into Bootle, we had a fag break stop just the otherside of the tunnel while we waited for 'Crombie Man' Elvis to catch up, who had lost his spare wheel on the way, somehow I managed to come home with Tommo's new shoes and tee shirts, so thanks for those Tom !!!

Rhyl Rideout Sep 2010 Wet Wet Wet
Why do weather forecasts always go wrong ? It was supposed to be dry for most of the day with a chance of the odd shower - WRONG. However 4 scooters left Chester (sorry Bernie + Tracey nearly went without you) giving Tommo a wave as we passed his shop in Saltney, then meeting up with the North Wales lads at Deeside Leisure Centre which made a total of 11 scoooters in total for the run up the coast road. Didn't catch the owners name but there was a newly finished GP in yellow ochre with plenty of mirrors on it's first run out after being built. We had a stop at the Petrol Heads cafe at Bagillt, which is a handy little place it's just a pity it's not a bit further on.
By the time we eventually pulled into the Robin Hood Camp the scooters were getting ready for the rideout, which most of us didn't do this year. Big thanks to Peter and family and Dave Sheehan for inviting us back to their caravan for a nice warming brew which was very welcome. The trade stands at Rhyl have progressively got more and more over the last few years and this year there must have been 10 or 11 stands, filling the field completely so plenty to have a look at. Unfortunately the rain returned heavier than ever which pushed the scooterists into the bar to keep dry !!! As the rain didn't want to stop, we decided to make a run for home about 3pm making a very wet and unpleasant run back, but you can't win them all.
