Severnside S.C.,Shrewsbury ,Fun Day

A Great Day Out ! click on pics to see full size
Fourteen Scooters left Chester@ 10.15 ,including Tony and mates from Cloud 9 and Don from Wigan for an easy, sunny ride to the Raven truck stop Cafe at Whitchurch for breakfast .We met up with a group from Crewe and set off for Shrewsbury at about 11.45 .Detour off the A49 due to an accident ,then a bit of a detour into Shrewsbury town trying to find the venue (sorry lads ! )The Red Barn pub is a good venue for a scooter do (if you can find it !)with ample car parks for the stalls ,bouncy castles ,BBQ and lots of scooter parking ,although this year the parking was also on the road and pavements ,with many more scooters attending . Highlight of the afternoon was Gavin winning £30 as third prize in the raffle only to be upstaged moments later by Billy winning second prize of £50, after I pulled his ticket out !(we wont be invited back ! )
We decided on a different route back via Ellesmere ,leaving the Red Barn about 4pm and stopping at the lake side cafe at Ellesmere for coffee and a seat in the sun by the waters edge . John from Deeside,a mate of Ians joined us for the ride home .Graham mysteriously dissapeared on the route home (we think he just wanted to give the scoot a good thrashing ! )and joined up again at the lake . Once we got to Wrexham we split up for N.Wales and Chester with Don still facing a long solo ride back to Wigan . Thanks to all who rode with us and special thanks to all the Severnside members for putting on such a good day for scooterists. Dave .

We hope to arrive in Shrewsbury for 12pm. There will be all day music, BBQ, stalls, custom scooter show, raffle. We did this very well organised charity event last year & it proved to be an excellent day out. As always any other scooter club or solo riders are more than welcome to join us.

Isle of Man Scooter Rally 2010

Just a few pics of last weekends trip to the Isle of Man for the Rally. 11 members from Chester went over on seven scoots. The meet @ Little Chef went according to plan ,the boat left on time for a calm crossing to Douglas in about 4hrs. We all booked in to the hotels then had a ride over to Peel as the sun was great to have evening meal in the Creek Inn .Back in time for a few pints before the night do in the Hilton .Barry Turner re-negotiated the price of the beer down to £2.50 pint from the normal Hilton price £3.50 ,good old Barry ! Saturday was another bright sunny day and everyone met at the TT grandstand for the ride round the TT course to the Sulby Glen Hotel who were really geared up for us with three Tables doing the full range of bacon /burgers /tea etc . Chester club decided to back track to Ramsey ,on to Maughold Head and Lighthouse, via an interesting track ,then on to Laxey to have alook at the famous wheel . A booze break was in order and the Shore Inn @ Old Laxey was only just down the road ,as they brew there own ale it would have been rude not to have called in ! Evening meal was in the Queens Head and all eleven of us sat down together for this one which was great after riding all day together . Rumours started to circulate that the boats on Sunday were being cancelled due to a coming storm ,some of us asked about staying over if necessary . Sunday dawned grey and windy and the scooters were left in the garage whilst we wandered round Douglas killing time and pestering the ferry staff to seeif we were actually going .About 2pm the wind dropped, sun came out and we were loaded on by 3.30 .All our lot made damm sure there scoots were lashed tight to the rails .The first hour out was rough, the boat tacking a good pounding, things in the galley falling over and car alarms going off all over the place ,some of our lot enjoyed it more than others but we were all glad to get into Liverpool and check the scoots were all ok . The ride home was uneventful and in the sunshine . Cracking weekend ,many thanks to Barry Turner and Debbie (soon to be Mrs T !)for organising it ,lets hope it made a load of dough for the charities . I've only put four photos on here ,Itook over thirty,if anyone wants to see the rest, email me and I will send them by Email. Dave

Isle of Man Rally ,July 2nd/3rd/4th

For anyone going on this the meeting point is the Little Chef on the Birkenhead side of the roundabout at the junction of the M53 wirral motorway and the A41 Chester to Birkenhead road ,in the area of Hooton . We will meet here at 9.30 on Frday morning .The boat goes 11.30 and they want us on the dock an hour before . Dont forget the ferry tickets !Anyone from other clubs or solo riders are welcome to ride up with us . Dave .
P.S. Just read the sailing instructions again and the check in for the 11.30 sailing CLOSES at 10.30. We had better try to leave the Little Chef at 9.30 to allow plenty of time for the unforseen !

Club Rideout, Sunday 27th, PLAN B !

It has been decided rather than "waste" such good scooter riding weather whilst waiting for the 3 o'clock kick off on Sunday ,that we can have a ride on a shorter distance route. Llangollen via the Horseshoe Pass is the plan .Lots of us were up on the pass with the Wrexham rideout a couple of weeks ago but conditions were not good and we didnt go into Llangollen ,so we thought we could do it again. Meet at Clubbies 10.30 to leave at 10.45. We will aim to leave Llangollen to be back in Chester in plenty of time for the 3pm kick off .See you Sunday , Dave .

Sundays Rideout ,June 27th

A few members expressed interest in a club rideout this Sunday ,to somewhere like Bala or Aberdovey .This idea has now gone on "hold" because of the clash with the World Cup Football ,England vs Germany game with a kick off of 3pm .We will try to get another Sunday soon for a club ride . Dave .

Wrexham S.C. Llangollen Rideout 2010

A mixed forecast still saw a good turnout of local scooters at clubbies for the late start of 11.45 .Liverpool S.C. and cloud 9 turned up in strength to join us for the run on the old Wrexham road to the Walnut Tree pub for the start .We were a great dissapointment to one copper in Lavister on his radar trap ,thanks mainly to all the cars coming out of the village flashing us ! Ride out started off well at 1pm but as we climbed away from Wrexham towards the hills we caught the bad weather everyone arriving at the Ponderosa in the wet .Some turned back for home after a brief stop ,including Billy after having to replace a broken clutch cable with the help of a mate and Gavin ,not pleasant in the rain !More rain on the way down the pass saw Bernie switching to reserve and a tense few miles finally getting fuel on the Wrexham by-pass.All the small filling stations have now closed on the Llangollen road .Back at Wrexham the roads were dry and the do was in full swing back at the Walnut Tree with our very own Gary Clarke winning "Best Lambretta "at the do ,well done Gaz !It was all over by 4.30,a good day out had by most of us despite the weather ! Thanks to lads and lasses of Wrexham scooter club for their efforts in putting on the 10th Llangollen rideout

Leek Jesters Rideout 2010

What fantastic weather for a rideout ! We set off from Clubbies at 10ish with 18 scooters and picked up Gav and four more at the rugby ground .Via Nantwich and a fag break in the first lay by on the A500, three missing ! One had seized and his buddy stayed with him as they were near to home .Elvis was contacted making hasty repairs to his induction system (dont ask...)and re-joined some fifteen minutes later.Uneventful run on to Leek except for a lammy loosing his kick start pedal as we were overtaken by a police car. The Modfellas did two sets at the do both good the choice of food, pubs, trade stalls all in such a small area is great at Leek and with scooters tightly packed the atmosphere in the sunshine was good enough to keep most of the Chester club there till gone 3pm . Apart from Nico and Helen having a flat tyre on the return it was a good ride home .Special thanks to the Jesters for another cracking day out ,see you next year ! click HERE for photos

Wednesday Evening Rideout to Neston May 12th

Steve from Heswall has joined the " Too Much Too Young " scooter club at Neston and has asked Elvis and me if we fancy paying them a visit .As they meet on Wednesday evenings at the Lady Hamilton pub in Little Neston we thought we would organise a ride over there next Wednesday . Anyone wanting to go should meet at Clubbies at 7 ish for a departure at 7.30 prompt . It will take us half an hour to get there. Butties may be available !The Lady Hamilton is in Henley Road ,Little Neston ,ch64os5

Our Tuesday night club meeting is on as usual at Clubbies ,the rideout is an extra .

Dave I'm up for this if the weather is dry, by the way I had a look on Google maps and I think this postcode could be nearer - CH64 9SE. It's by a row of shops and a chippy off West Vale, Neston - Graham.
