Chester s.c.toy run 2009
click HERE for photos The day was cold but with bright sunshine and no wind it helped to encourage seventy one scooters to turn up for this annual Toy Run .This year for a change ,the donations of toys were being split between the Countess of Chester Hospital childrens ward and the Ellesmere Port and Chester home for battered wives .We would like to thank all the firms and individuals who donated toys .As another new idea we held a raffle in aid of the breast cancer unit of the Countess Hospital ,Chester .Due to the great generosity of the traders and individuals connected to the club, the prizes were top quality and the raffle raised over £178 ! Thanks to all who gave so generously .
The ride took the usual form of the meet up at 12 with plenty of time for coffee and bacon butties for those having travelled a long way on a cold morning. We started for the hospital at one with Pat our landlady bravely accepting a lift on the back of Tomo's scooter being ridden by George . Andy played the role of Father Christmas this year .
The route to and from the hospital was through a very busy Chester city center with the usual havoc caused to the traffic at junctions by trying to keep 70 scooters together . After a half hour pause at the hospital whilst Santa delivered the toys ,it was back to Clubbies for food, drink, and to draw the raffle . Most made a move for home by 3.30 ,mstly due to the early lighting up time and the fact it was getting much colder .Thanks to all the Scooter clubs and individual riders who came .Without you there wouldnt be a toy run at all . Special mention to the lads who came all the way from Anglesey to do the run .
Thanks must also go to our always enthusiastic landlady ,Pat, and Andy, for giving us the venue. Special thanks to Tracey and Bernie for the organising ,collecting toys and pushing the rest of us lazy buggers to do something!Last but not least thanks to Elvis for having the raffle idea and going round to individual firms and begging some fantastic prizes !Well done that man !! Hope to see you all on next years run .
