Very nice relaxing rideout down to the Groves at the River Dee in Chester, thanks for all the lads and lasses who made the effort to come down and bask in the autumn sunshine, the line up of scooters (and bikes) looked really impressive.

Rhyl Rideout Sep 2010 Wet Wet Wet

Why do weather forecasts always go wrong ? It was supposed to be dry for most of the day with a chance of the odd shower - WRONG. However 4 scooters left Chester (sorry Bernie + Tracey nearly went without you) giving Tommo a wave as we passed his shop in Saltney, then meeting up with the North Wales lads at Deeside Leisure Centre which made a total of 11 scoooters in total for the run up the coast road. Didn't catch the owners name but there was a newly finished GP in yellow ochre with plenty of mirrors on it's first run out after being built. We had a stop at the Petrol Heads cafe at Bagillt, which is a handy little place it's just a pity it's not a bit further on.
By the time we eventually pulled into the Robin Hood Camp the scooters were getting ready for the rideout, which most of us didn't do this year. Big thanks to Peter and family and Dave Sheehan for inviting us back to their caravan for a nice warming brew which was very welcome. The trade stands at Rhyl have progressively got more and more over the last few years and this year there must have been 10 or 11 stands, filling the field completely so plenty to have a look at. Unfortunately the rain returned heavier than ever which pushed the scooterists into the bar to keep dry !!! As the rain didn't want to stop, we decided to make a run for home about 3pm making a very wet and unpleasant run back, but you can't win them all.

New Chester Scooter Club badges and patch

Following last night's club meet, we now have some new Chester Scooter Club badges and patches thanks to Elvis! They look great! The price is £4 and that gets you a badge and a patch. Elvis might have some with him on Saturday (for the rideout to Rhyl), or at clubbies next Tuesday. It has also been decided that sky blue is to be the colour for the new club polo shirt. We are hoping to have a sample of the shirt at clubbies next Tuesday as well. Comments are welcome, if you would like a particular size, let us know.

Rhyl Scooter Weekender Rideout - Sat 18th Sep

It's Rhyl Scooter Weekender this weekend the 17th to 19th September at The Lyons Robin Hood Holiday Camp as usual. Change of plans due to Nico having to work until 10-30, so we have agreed to meet at The Grosvenor Arms (Clubbies) at 11am on Saturday 18th and leave shortly afterwards. We will still ride past the Deeside Leisure Centre at about 11-30, so if you want to wait there we will pull in there to meet you. There's usually a rideout from the Holiday Camp up to Abergele at 1pm and plenty of trade stands to get you to part with your money, so don't forget to bring some cash.

As usual any local clubs and solo riders are welcome to ride with us.

Tuesday Night Club Meeting

Following last Tuesday night at Clubbies, Tracy has asked me to post a notice, asking if we could try and get as many people involved in Chester Scooter Club, to come along to this Tuesday's meet and put forward ideas for ways to raise some money to fund the two events the club hold (Christmas toy run & Easter egg run)
We are also looking at doing some more polo shirts with the club name and logo on and metal enamel Chester Scooter Club Member badges. Any positive comments and feedback here would be welcome. Cheers!

Rideout to Llandudno, And North Wales Nomads BBQ Sat 4th Sept

After leaving clubbies then meeting up in Harwarden, we had 13 scooters. As the weather was good and we were in no hurry we stopped off at Petrolheads (cafe) in Flintshire for a cuppa before heading along the coast road all the way to Abergele. It was here we parked up the scoots for a much needed pint in the sunshine. Half of us stayed put while the other half set off for Llandudno for fish and chips. Unfortunatley the clutch cable on Coxy`s Lambretta snapped along Llandudno front (about 500 yards from the chippy!) and it was shortly discovered that, between us, we had every size of alan key apart from the one we needed! With a bit of tweaking & thanks to Bernie for having some spare cable it was sorted. By the time we finally did get the Lambretta going again it was too late for fish and chips & so we headed back to The Bull Hotel in Abergele for the Nomad's BBQ. Chicken kebabs, burgers & hotdogs all round. As the afternoon went on with a bit of a shower a few of us headed for home leaving myself & Helen, Bernie & Tracy, Elvis, Don, Danish & son relaxing to some top scooter tunes in great company. Thanks to Nige & Steph for showing us the nearest petrol station & the best route to the coast road & thanks to Elvis for accompanying us back to Chester in the rain.

Isle of Wight Rally 2010

Six of us set off from Dob's Hill on friday morning @ 8am.Judy and me ,Bernie and Tracey and Nige and Steph from Rhyl Elite s.c. in dry cool conditions .Easy run down with a tail wind all the way .On the Andover by-pass the Gremlin in the tv200 decided to act up causing it to die a couple of times before settling .Soon after Bernie was missing with a wire having come off the CDI unit .This was soon sorted with a nip up by his teeth !We were on the 4.30 boat in the sunshine .Friday night was in Ryde to see The Birds and Small Fakers in the Balcony bar ,excellent night.Saturday saw us going to the parts fair at Smallbrook Stadium, then on to Ryde for Custom show . Sat night into Ryde again on very crowded buses Bern +Trace to hip shakers ,others to Ice Arena to see the Lambrettas and Basket Case .The bus back to Shanklin at 2am was something else !Sunday was the big Rideout, the high point of the Rally.Bern+Trace elected to do it and the rest of us elected to sit outside the Wishing Well pub and watch everyone go past .Fantastic turnout ,it took 50mins for all the scooters to pass the pub ! A good night in Shanklin was had by all of us later ,after eating an excellent carvery @the Hollies Hotel ,on Bernies recommendation.
Monday saw us meeting up at 9.30 for the 10.30 boat E.Cowes to Southampton .Nige ditched all his luggage with a mate with a van and we left the docks at noon.Niges scooter ran rough ,traced to choke sticking on,Bernies stand spring broke coming in to Romsey and we finally stopped after120 miles at the Trumpet Inn,near Ledbury, for munchies .Final fuel stop at Shrewsbury and all scooters flying along.Judy and me made 400 yards away from the fuel stop when we skidded off the A5 in a Big cloud of burning rubber smoke ,rear suspension strut snapped off, trapping the rear tyre on the mudguard .It was Bye,Bye to the Vespa jockeys and a short wait for Mr Grumpy from Carole Nash recovery .So the last 50 miles were done on the breakdown truck, thanks to Hagon suspension units !Fantastic Rally ,no wonder they come from all over the world to do it .All ready booked for next year ,see you there ! Dave .
