Dabbers Scooter Club-Smell The Two Stroke 8/8/10

Congratulations !

Congratulations are in order for Andy (Nico ) for passing module one of his scooter test today ! Well done Andy !

Tal y Llyn rideout

The forecast of a dry day helped to give us a good turnout of nine scooters at Clubbies at 10.15. Club members Bernie ,Tracey,Wilf ,Andy ,Ian,Eugene,Dave and Judy were joined by Steve,John, steve and Ann for the seventy mile ride to Tal y Llyn . At the coffee stop at Rhug on the A5 Nige joined us from Rhyl . We stopped for fuel in Bala and again just outside Dolgellau . All ten scooters ran fine up over the pass and down to our lunch stop at the Tal y Bont Hotel on the shore of the lake .After an hours stop and munchies it was decided to head back rather than to go on to Aberdyfi as the time was getting on . We had one stop at Llandegla where Steve and Ann discovered they were very low on fuel and Wilfs scooter, which had been giving trouble idling , refused to go on the kick start but went o.k. with a bump ! Everyone started to peel off in different directions to take the shortest route back home .A great ride ,good company and no breakdowns on a 150 mile route in dry conditions through some of the most spectacular scenery in the country ,we couldnt ask for better ! Thanks to Eugene for the photos .

Bala Rideout this Sunday July 25th

As last Sunday was a lost cause, due to the weather, we thought a ride over to Bala lake and on to Tal y Llyn lake this week might be good .We've done this one before and had a pub lunch at Tal y Llyn at a pub at the far end of the lake . Obviously it is all dependant on the forecast for Sunday ,its o.k. at present ,but could vary by Sunday ! Anyone who fancies it should meet at Clubbies for 10am on Sunday for a 10.15 departure .See you there ,Dave .

A Great Day Out ! click on pics to see full size
Fourteen Scooters left Chester@ 10.15 ,including Tony and mates from Cloud 9 and Don from Wigan for an easy, sunny ride to the Raven truck stop Cafe at Whitchurch for breakfast .We met up with a group from Crewe and set off for Shrewsbury at about 11.45 .Detour off the A49 due to an accident ,then a bit of a detour into Shrewsbury town trying to find the venue (sorry lads ! )The Red Barn pub is a good venue for a scooter do (if you can find it !)with ample car parks for the stalls ,bouncy castles ,BBQ and lots of scooter parking ,although this year the parking was also on the road and pavements ,with many more scooters attending . Highlight of the afternoon was Gavin winning £30 as third prize in the raffle only to be upstaged moments later by Billy winning second prize of £50, after I pulled his ticket out !(we wont be invited back ! )
We decided on a different route back via Ellesmere ,leaving the Red Barn about 4pm and stopping at the lake side cafe at Ellesmere for coffee and a seat in the sun by the waters edge . John from Deeside,a mate of Ians joined us for the ride home .Graham mysteriously dissapeared on the route home (we think he just wanted to give the scoot a good thrashing ! )and joined up again at the lake . Once we got to Wrexham we split up for N.Wales and Chester with Don still facing a long solo ride back to Wigan . Thanks to all who rode with us and special thanks to all the Severnside members for putting on such a good day for scooterists. Dave .

Shrewsbury severnside lions SC fun day 2010

We will be meeting at Clubbies (Grosvenor Arms, Handbridge) at 10.00am with a view to leaving at 10.15am. We will more than likely be stopping at the Raven Cafe for bacon butties along the way. We hope to arrive in Shrewsbury for 12pm. There will be all day music, BBQ, stalls, custom scooter show, raffle. We did this very well organised charity event last year & it proved to be an excellent day out. As always any other scooter club or solo riders are more than welcome to join us.

Isle of Man Scooter Rally 2010

Just a few pics of last weekends trip to the Isle of Man for the Rally. 11 members from Chester went over on seven scoots. The meet @ Little Chef went according to plan ,the boat left on time for a calm crossing to Douglas in about 4hrs. We all booked in to the hotels then had a ride over to Peel as the sun was great to have evening meal in the Creek Inn .Back in time for a few pints before the night do in the Hilton .Barry Turner re-negotiated the price of the beer down to £2.50 pint from the normal Hilton price £3.50 ,good old Barry ! Saturday was another bright sunny day and everyone met at the TT grandstand for the ride round the TT course to the Sulby Glen Hotel who were really geared up for us with three Tables doing the full range of bacon /burgers /tea etc . Chester club decided to back track to Ramsey ,on to Maughold Head and Lighthouse, via an interesting track ,then on to Laxey to have alook at the famous wheel . A booze break was in order and the Shore Inn @ Old Laxey was only just down the road ,as they brew there own ale it would have been rude not to have called in ! Evening meal was in the Queens Head and all eleven of us sat down together for this one which was great after riding all day together . Rumours started to circulate that the boats on Sunday were being cancelled due to a coming storm ,some of us asked about staying over if necessary . Sunday dawned grey and windy and the scooters were left in the garage whilst we wandered round Douglas killing time and pestering the ferry staff to seeif we were actually going .About 2pm the wind dropped, sun came out and we were loaded on by 3.30 .All our lot made damm sure there scoots were lashed tight to the rails .The first hour out was rough, the boat tacking a good pounding, things in the galley falling over and car alarms going off all over the place ,some of our lot enjoyed it more than others but we were all glad to get into Liverpool and check the scoots were all ok . The ride home was uneventful and in the sunshine . Cracking weekend ,many thanks to Barry Turner and Debbie (soon to be Mrs T !)for organising it ,lets hope it made a load of dough for the charities . I've only put four photos on here ,Itook over thirty,if anyone wants to see the rest, email me and I will send them by Email. Dave
