With a good weather forecast  for Thursday it was decided on Tuesday night meeting to go for a ride.So we don't make Don do a long journey we will go in the Frodsham,Delamere,Oulton Park direction .Oulton Park is supposed to be open for car practice and should be free to enter.Any club member wanting to do the ride,meet at Clubbies at 11am.

This Saturday April the 20th there is soul night at Broughton wings anniversary special 19 years with special guest DJs Ben Owen and Steve Thomas ,,,charity event with proceeds to the homeless,sure to be a cracking evening,,,

Chester Scooter Club 16th Egg Run

A big thank you from Chester Scooter Club to our hosts Stuart and Brad at The Grosvenor Arms (Clubbies) and everyone who attended today, including Chester Legion, Muttley's, Northern Aces, Queens Park, Wrexham, Northwich Omega, Dabbers, Ellesmere Port Scooter Clubs and all the solo riders. There were also donations from The Chester Beer and Wine Company (tin bucket of eggs) and local resident Bill, who has been supporting us for all 16 years. There were over 400 eggs delivered to The Countess of Chester Hospital. Apologies to anyone I've missed out.

It's a good forecast for this Thursday,28th,March,so it was decided at last nights meeting to start our summer rideouts again .Meet up at Afonwen,on the A541 Mold -Denbigh  road ,appx 9 miles from Mold,by the Caerwys turning.The intention is to go up the Vale of Clwyd,Denbigh,Ruthin, etc
Meet at Afonwen at 2pm.

Meeting ,Tuesday 26th March ,at Clubbies .

As all members know,Clubbies re-opened again a few weeks ago .Bernie has called in today and spoken to the manager.He is pleased to have us back for our Tuesday night meetings .All our options are open to us ,but Clubbies does have the best parking area for members coming in cars .If Clubbies closes again a move back to Boathouse shouldnt be a problem .Graham Lloyd has also been in talks with the landlord of the Red Lion ,Handbridge,as a possible future meeting place.

So it's back to Clubbies on Tuesday26th, If any member has comments please make them on the bottom of this post and put your name on them to save confusion ! Dave.

Shropshire and Welsh borders auto owners are having a ride over to Bala next Sunday 24th Feb meeting at Rhug estate 11.30 then ride over to Bala, all welcome and weather permitting.
If anyone from the North Wales & Borders Alliance are interested in joining the ride meet at the Maccies Mold for 10:00am leaving 10:30am for the Rhug estate then on to Bala.

Rideout to The Raven Cafe on Sun 13th Jan

A few clubs are heading to The Raven Cafe on Sunday for a bacon butty and a cuppa. Cloud 9 are leaving McDonalds in Birkenhead around 10:45 and will be stopping at The Trooper on Whitchurch Rd around 11:15 ish if anyone wants to meet up/tag along.

Steve Hill's funeral on 28th December

To all scooterists who wish to pay their respect to a fellow scooterist Steve Hill who sadly past away earlier this month, the funeral will take place on the 28th December at Northop crematorium at 11.00 am. All scooterists can meet in the Whitebear car park from 9.30 ready to ride to the family home at 10.00 where the cars will be leaving for Northop crematorium.

Next Meeting

Our next club night meeting will be on Tuesday 8th January @ Boathouse,Chester, usual time of 8pm. All the best for Christmas and New Year to all,from Dave + Judy.

Tuesday night meeting ,11th December

Meet up at the Boathouse at 8pm,same as last week.This will be our base for now. If there is to be a change it will be posted on this site.Well done to all club members for last Sundays turnout for the Toy Run . I got a Text from Tracey Pinky in Belfast,she took a tumble on the scooter on an icy road,but seems more concerned with damage to the scooter than herself,She sends her best wishes to all the club members and hopes to come over next year.Thanks Tracey!

Steve Hill R.I.P.

I'm sure all Chester S.C. members will join with me in thanking the family of Steve Hill for sending his gift to the Toy Run on Sunday.Steve who was a member of the Mancot Roadrunners S.C. died last Wednesday ,age 62. He had been intending to come on our Toy Run on Sunday and had bought the toys.His family wrapped them and sent them down .A very kind gesture at a very sad time. Many thanks.

A big thanks to the organizers Tracy, Steve and Mark (pictured above), and everybody who turned up and donated presents for the kids. A very good turnout of around 60 scooters who braved some heavy downpours.

We decided last tuesday not to bother meeting up at Clubbies while the pub isn't open but to go direct to the Boathouse for 8pm .for anyone parking cars in the Boathouse car park will need two one pound coins for the meter,the ticket is refundable at the bar with a drink. Scooter parking is free .We will keep an eye on Clubbies for now.

NW+BA A.G.M ,Sunday 18th November.

Two volunteers from our club are needed to represent us at the A.G.M  at Flintshire Scooter Club on Sunday, 18th November. The administration of the Alliance is being taken on by Coaty and Dave Durnell .It is important for our club to be represented especially if we are cancelling our Christmas Toy Run this year.I can't make it this year due to surgery on the 16th November .The meeting usually lasts a couple of hours .Only two Representatives from each club are allowed in the meeting. If you can do it use the comments box or ring me.Meeting starts at 11.30. Dave.

Ritchie Roberts,standing down

Ritchie Roberts is standing down as chairman of the North Wales and Borders Alliance. Anyone wanting to know the reasons for this should access the N.W.B.A.page on Facebook. Without his leadership the Alliance will probably collapse.
The hardest hit will be the club riders who only do local day events,as there is no communication between clubs,so no one is going to turn up !
As we have lost our permanent home base(again!)we need to keep our meetings going on Tuesday nights through the winter,otherwise our club will fragment.No one will think any the worse of you if you come by car during the winter months ! While this situation exists I think Toy Run and Egg Run need to be discused and possibly cancelled for now.
We will organise club pub rides for next year Thursdays and Sundays, as before, as there is no point having a scooter if you don't get out on it !

Graham Lloyd tells me that Clubbies was closed when he passed yesterday evening. It may have been a one off,but to play safe we will go for "plan B ",meet at Clubbies at 8pm to leave at 8.30 for the Boathouse.For those in cars there is pay and display in the Boathouse car park,or an alternative is park in Dee Lane and walk round.Dave.

Clubbies Open

The Grosvenor Arms ,Handbridge,has re-opened.We met there last night with a view to going on to the Boathouse,only to find the pub open for business,so for the forseeable future we will be meeting up there as usual.

Lancashire Alliance Southport Rideout - this Sunday

Any club member wanting to go to this meet at Starbucks cafe at Eastham,by the junction of the A41 and M53 .(where we always meet for the Isle of Man trip) .Be ready to leave Starbucks at 10.30.We can't use Clubbies as the road outside the pub is closed for the Marathon Run.

Tracey leaving us

Tracey is moving from Chester to Belfast on a permanent basis this Friday,so can't make the Tuesday night meetings .We will forgive her !
I'm sure the club members will want to join with Judy and I to wish her all the best in her new life across the Irish sea and hope to see her again on her scooter when she comes over.

Clubbies closing down

Once again our favourite scooter base in Chester is closing down,due to a lack of trade.The pub will shut on Saturday,22nd of September. Our next meeting is Tuesday,25th of September .We intend to go to Hickory's down by the river.Meet at Clubbies at 8pm as usual. At 8.30 we will go to Hickory's.If we are not welcome we will go along to the Boathouse..

We turned up for our Tuesday meet up as usual,to find the pub shut.We waited for a half hour to give members time to arrive,then went down to The Boathouse. Until we find out the situation at Clubbies we will continue to meet in the car park at 8pm and then decide where we will go from there.Any pub with a good parking area ,in Chester,is a consideration.Keep an eye on these Blog posts for updates

Meet up at Starbucks cafe on the A41/M53  junction at 9am, this Friday,June 22nd .Rally passes will be available, to those who booked them,on arrival at accomodation .Fingers crossed for a calm crossing!Parking will probably be on the road so a scooter cover and lock is not a bad idea.

Broughton Wings Soul Club present on Saturday June 9th the 18th Anniversary & Charity Night Special.

The longest running Soul Night in Wales comes of age with it's 18th Anniversary, Plus the chosen Charity  for this year is Cancer Research. A well deserving charity I am sure you will agree.

So put your dancing shoes on and come and give the night your support. . A fantastic venue with great drinks prices. Only £5 on the door with the proceeds being donated to Cancer Research.

As its Bank Holiday weekend and the only rally is Tenby,we thought a rideout localy would be an idea.Meet up at Roweys house at 10.30.We will go via Denbigh to Llanfair T.H. for a coffee stop at The Bridge Inn ,on to Llanwrst ,refuel,and cross the river to Trefriw and lunch at The Ship Inn. Up to Conway and back via the back roads through  Betwys-yn Rhos to St Asaph ,calling at The Fox for a break before returning to Mold .Weather is forecast to be ok,so bring your waterproofs !
