Amusing Scootering Article - March 2021 Publication

My birthday present subscription copy of Scootering dropped through the door today. On the front a wonderful Series 1 custom, which for once I really liked. Reading the story of the build inside, I was amused by the comment in the owner details section on page 24.

The owner Gary told a story about his dad breaking down on his TV 175 back in the day, with which he had loads of problems. One time when it broke down he was so mad with it that he pushed into a farmers field and left it there, screaming that it was a piece of shit and never wanted to see it again and ended up walking home. He left it for a few days and then decided to go back and get it and it was still there in the field exactly where he had left it. When he was asked if he was surprised that it was still there he said, no not really nobody wanted them back then as they were deemed useless 😀

If it was a series one TV175 they did have a bad reputation for being unreliable, even in the 60's.Lambretta changed the whole engine design to cure it .TV 175 series two and three are regarded as the most reliable of the Lambretta's! I'm looking for some wood to touch here!

No surprisingly Dave I think it was a series 3, which surprised me. I just thought it was amusing, you could imagine the dad chucking it in a field when it wouldn't start and stomping off.
