In traditional Chester scooter club style we got off to a very late start, due to a herd of cows and Brians exhaust vibrating loose .We decided to forget about the meeting point and the mass ride into Southport and head directly for the free Lancashire hot pot lunch ! The waterproofs were on as the four (Andy,Brian ,Elvis , Dave ) trusty Lambrettas left Chester ,but we left the rain behind as we got out of the city . It was cold and grey and the Mersey Tunnel was a welcome warm up .Its a pity the "city of culture " couldnt find a few quid to to repair the potholes ,they get worse every time we go through .
Our timing into Leo's bar in Southport was perfect, just ahead of the arrival of the mass rideout, reputed to be between three and four hundred this year ,so we got served and got a seat !The traffic wardens were left outside scratching their heads as to what to do as more and more scooterspitched up on the pavement outside !The hot pot lived up to its name ,though the bread was missing this year, for mopping up the gravy ! We stayed for a couple of hours, watched some early departures leave in the rain ,then rode home on the same route without incident and nice and dry ! A good rideout and many thanks to Mad Gaz and the Southport scooter clubs for organising it
