A request from Andy (Nico)
Here is a picture of helens grandad in the centre of the picture behind that horrid (german he thinks) scooter. The picture was taken in Liverpool in the 1950s we think But maybe some one could put a better date on it by looking at the lambrettas,Helens grandad can not remember what the make of his scooter was and would love to know. Also wondering if his mates Lambrettas are still about as you can clearly see the reg plates.
Here are the details of the Dunkley Popular (the strange red one in the middle) that Eugene correctly identified, however the front mudguard looks a little different. Click on the image to zoom up the details, 25 to 30 mph !!!!
Also the NSU Prima V looks about right, have a look at this video www.youtube.com/watch?v=3vC0R5nuFPU

Nico, not too sure of the early non Lambretta scoots, but the one on the right could be a NSU Prima D from 1958, or a Durrkopp Diana possibly ?
Have a look at this video

Its got to be after 1960 as the Lambretta on the left,a series 2 came out in about 59 or 60 .The fact the photo is in colour would indicate 1960's .can you make the photo come up larger Andy so we can click on it and have a good look ?
I think I've found it. i did a google search on British Scooters and one of the first ones to come up on images was a Dunkley Popular.
Looks just like it.
Happy New Year Eugene
I did a google search on NSU Prima's and the scooter on the right looks almost identical to an NSU Prima Funfsterns (5 star)
I contacted VMSC for any information, and they've suggested an NSU Prima 5star and a Mercury Dolphin. Looking at images on google, the Dunkley Popular and Mercury Dolphin look very similar.
Thanks for all the help and interest with the photo,Helens grandad is made up.We now reckon it`s a MERCURY HERMES .http://cyclemaster.wordpress.com/page-57-1956-mercury-hermes-50cc-scooter/.

The scooter on the right is a NSU Prima 3KL. I have two, one in the same colour scheme with the ignition switch on the headlight cowl & a Prima V with ful elec start which does not have a switch on the cowl. Mine are 1960 models, though they were available from 1958 to 1962.
